Week 94: Count your many miracles!

April 18, 2016

This has been a great week here in Chelmsford! The weather's been
mostly warm, sunny, and beautiful, so we're hoping for more of that
this week!

We also had loads of miracles this week! The first was when we stopped
by Tina Monday evening. Her phone hadn't been working, so we just
decided to stop by to set a return appointment. We had a really good
chat with her, and we set up a chapel tour for Wednesday. We had a
really good time showing her around the chapel, and we taught her
about the Gospel of Jesus Christ as we toured around. She loved it and
could feel the Spirit so strongly, especially when we taught her about
baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. Brother Futter, the member who
was helping us give the chapel tour, taught her about temples and
family history, especially about baptisms for the dead. These things
really touched her, and she committed to prepare for the temple and is
excited to go inside!

We had a really good day on Tuesday as well! We stopped by Lisa again
and got her phone number, and we'll be seeing her with a member on
Thursday! We also had dinner with a part-member family and a former
investigator, so that went really well! We taught them about Alma
50:1-5, where we likened Moroni's fortifications around the cities to
us building spiritual fortifications around ourselves. They loved it!

On Thursday, we had Interviews with President and Sister Stevens, and
it went great! They gave me loads of advice for the rest of my mission
and also about continuing to share the gospel after my mission. I love
our mission leaders!

On Friday, the windows of heaven were opened, and it POURED. Despite
this, we decided that we'd go try to find some new investigators on
our way to city center. We were talking with people along the way, and
most of them were understandably less than thrilled to talk in the
rain, but we found a new investigator! She lives in the Maldon Elders'
area, so they'll be teaching her, but it was still a great experience!

On Saturday, we found a great new investigator named Ollie! He was the
2nd or 3rd person we stopped as we left the chapel to go to city
center, and he didn't look like someone who would've been interested,
so that was a miracle! He has some good questions about where we lived
before this life, why we're here, and where we go after we die. After
we set a return appointment with him, he asked us if it'd be ok to
bring his friend to the appointment as well. We had to think about it
for a second, but then we said yes. We're super excited for him!

More miracles on Sunday! The couple Brother Stewart's been working
with came to church and really enjoyed it! They want to get married
soon and asked if they'd be able to get married in the chapel. They
want to talk with Brother Stewart more before meeting up with us, but
they'll also be coming to church again next week! Miracle!! Tina and
her family all came to church today, which was awesome! Tina told us
that they almost didn't come because she had a bad headache in the
morning, but her son told her that he really wanted to come, so they
came anyways! Her kids loved church, and her son will be coming to
Young Men's on Wednesday!! In addition, one of the members told us a
while ago that there was a new Italian member who just moved in that
we needed to look out for, and we finally met her yesterday! She was
walking past us to head out of the chapel when we stopped her and got
to know her. We'll be helping her move to a different place in
Chelmsford soon. Glad we were in the right place at the right time to
talk with her!

We're looking forward to a great week and hope you all are as well! Love ya!

Funnies of the Week:

The Ward Talent Show was awesome!! Nobody could hear what we were
saying in our skit (one of the members thankfully changed our talent
from a song to a skit), so that was unfortunate, but it was still fun.
An American family did the Jimmy Fallon lip-sync battle. Some of the
ward leaders did a roadshow (short play) with the youth. One person
made animal noises.

On the day of the downpour, we met one of the youth on our way to city
center, and he was SOAKED. He told us he thought he'd just swing by
city center to grab something on his way home, and then the rain
descended.
