This has been a good
week with lots of good experiences!
We met with Heather on Tuesday and got to know her a lot better. It
turns out that she's toured around the world as a singer and has a few
Mormon friends. She even lived with an LDS family when she was in
Ohio! We had a great time teaching her the Restoration, and she said
that if she found out it was true, she would be baptized! She was
doing super well until Sunday morning when she texted us that she
didn't want to meet anymore, but it's ok. Preach My Gospel is true: no
effort is wasted!
On Wednesday, we watched the Sunday Afternoon session of General
Conference and loved it! Elder Holland's talk was pretty hilarious as
well. We had a miracle happen later that day when we were finding in
the park. We stopped this one woman on crutches and it she said, "Oh,
I know who you are. You're Latter-day Saints!" Her name is Lisa, and
it turns out she's a member of the Church, but she hasn't been active
for a long time. She was super friendly and we had a great
conversation with her, so she invited us to stop by whenever we're in
the area. We stopped by the next day, and she tried inviting us in,
but we realized that there wasn't a man in the house, so we had to
stay outside. Even though she hadn't heard of that missionary rule
before, she understood and chatted for a minute or two on the
doorstep. We'll check who her home teachers are and see if we can stop
by her home again this week!
We had a mega miracle Thursday with Christina and Guiseppe, the
parents of a family in the ward. Christina is active, but Guiseppe
struggles. We'd never been in their home before, so when we were in
the area Thursday evening, we decided to stop by. We went up to their
door and knocked on it, but nobody answered. We walked down the street
and started to check the map to see who else we could stop by, and
suddenly they pulled up and invited us back to their home. We had a
good time chatting with them and they gave us some nice hot chocolate,
and Christina asked us if we could share something before we left. We
honestly hadn't prepared anything to share with them, but the thought
came to mind that the Hallelujah Easter video might be good to watch.
After we watched it and asked what they liked, Guiseppe asked us, "Can
I have that?" We weren't sure what he meant at first, but then he
clarified that he meant the Atonement. He told us about a few
challenges he's facing and that he was wondering if he could have the
blessings of the Atonement. We bore testimony to him that yes, the
Atonement is for him, that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know
exactly how he feels and are ready to help as we do our best to live
the gospel. I shared my own experiences with the Atonement and
testified that Heavenly Father was mindful of his situation. I love
how bearing testimony of such a simple, profound truth brought the
spirit into the room so strongly. Guiseppe asked for a blessing before
we left, which we gladly gave. We then saw him at church on Sunday,
and he really enjoyed that. I am so grateful that we were at the right
place at the right time, and I'm grateful to have had this wonderful
experience with Christina and Guiseppe.
We received a miracle text from our ward mission leader, Brother
Stewart. He texted that the couple who'd come to church the week
before General Conference (the couple whose street we tracted) had
gotten back into contact with him. They'd felt the Spirit when they
were at church, and they wanted to talk with him about it. It sounds
like their meeting with Brother Stewart went well, so we're hoping to
see them again soon!
We had a crazy day on Friday! We were traveling to Ipswich for a Zone
Training Meeting, and our train made it to Colchester when it was
announced that there fatality on the train tracks in the next train
station, so all the trains going that direction were stopped for two
hours. Crazy!! Thankfully there were some missionaries who drove down
from Ipswich to pick us up. We were an hour late to the meeting, but
thankfully we got there in time for the trainings.
Annabelle's baptism was on Saturday, and it went really well! We got
there early enough to fill the font and help set everything up. Lots
of Annabelle's friends and family came to watch her baptism, and they
really enjoyed it! We had a good time talking with everyone
afterwards!
There were lots of visitors at church on Sunday, testimony meeting was
great, Corina (our Portuguese friend that one of the member families
introduced us to) came with a Portuguese friend, and Guiseppe came!
Miracles!

Funnies of the Week
We had a district lunch at a cheap Chinese buffet. Weird ketchup,
weird water, super thirsty later on. Not sure if we'll be going there
again.
Right before we met Heather at a local cafe, she sent us a text
saying, "Sorry, I didn't realize you didn't drink tea or coffee! We
could meet somewhere else if you want!"
As we watched Elder Kearon's talk, which was super good, I realized
that this must be what my family expects me to speak like when I
return.
There's a Ward Talent Show this coming Saturday, and after the baptism
last Saturday, we noticed that the Chelmsford Elders and Sisters had
been signed up to sing.
When Heather dropped us on Sunday morning, we were pretty bummed. To
cheer ourselves up, Elder Crowder taught me how to throw our old,
un-usable pass-along cards like ninja stars. Now we keep finding
little cards scattered throughout our flat.
