My new companion - Elder Jackson, from Ireland!
February 22, 2016
This has been an amazing week!!
I love serving in Chelmsford!
(Pronunciation guide: ch-elm-s-ferd). We don't have much of a teaching
pool right now, but we've seen some good miracles this week! I'm
getting on really well with my new companion from Ireland, Elder
Jackson! He's really hardworking and straightforward, and I'm looking
forward to serving with him!
For those of you who might want it, my new address is:
Flat 1, 80 Broomfield Road
Chelmsford
Essex, CM1 1SS
UK
The first few days of the transfer were pretty open, so we found by
the way as we stopped by members. We've been able to make some good
friends in the ward in the short time that we've had, and just about
all of them really want to help us with our missionary work. We had an
especially good visit on Friday when we came by the ward mission
leader's home for a bit. He helped us know who we should be focusing
on and answered all the questions we had. He's a super pro-active ward
mission leader, and we're really excited to work with him!
Probably my favorite day this past week was Sunday. First off, I was
able to meet some of the AMAZING members from when I began my mission,
and I LOVED it!!! Second off, I realized I know the other missionaries
in the ward, Sister Anderson and Sister Phillips! I knew Sister
Anderson from back home, and I knew Sister Phillips from Dereham and
Aylesbury! We had a good ward council before sacrament began, and
Sister Anderson and I were able to lead in the music (she played and I
waved my arm around in the air). Elder Jackson and I were asked to
give our testimonies, and as I was walking back from giving my
testimony, I noticed that someone had taken the seat next to mine
while I'd given my testimony - it was the investigator the Elders had
found just 1-2 weeks ago! We hadn't had much contact with him during
the week, but he texted us Saturday evening that he would try to come
to church. He really loved church, and he got to talk with the ward
mission leader and the bishop, which was great! He had to leave early,
so we were going to quickly set a return appointment with him before
he left, but our ward mission leader beat us to it! He invited J, the
investigator, to his home this week so that we could teach in his
home! J even asked for a copy of the Book of Mormon before he left, so
we're excited to follow up with him to see how he likes it! MIRACLES!
That's all the time that I have this week, hope everybody's doing
great back home!

Funnies of the Week:
That moment when I realized Elder Jackson was actually from Ireland
and not Utah. We'd gone all the way from London back to our flat
complex in Chelmsford, and he asked if we could go to the bank, but he
said it like "buy-nk", and I was totally confused about what he was
saying. Apparently, people from Northern Ireland have accents very
similar to American accents, but with definite exceptions.
