Week 84: Make the Decision Today

February 8, 2016

Last week, we had a Zone P-day at the Stake President's home. We all
pitched in, and his family made us a gigantic English roast dinner!
After eating and playing a few games, President Bettridge sat down
with us and shared some thoughts about missionary work and what we
could do to continue to improve. Some things we talked about where the
importance of desire, work, attitude, obedience, and love. What stood
out to me was the importance of making the decision to do these things
once - instead of deciding every day to be obedient, make the decision
today to be obedient every day. The same applies to working hard,
having a good attitude and desire, and loving the people you work
with. Just like what Tyler Hawes (the BYU basketball player) said in
the Church video they made about him, it wasn't a hard decision to
serve a mission because he already made the decision long ago. It can
be the same with us and these attributes - if we decide now to do
those things, then it won't be hard to decide to do those things when
we get out on our missions.

We had small miracles throughout the week as well. One day, we had a
miracle when we were simply walking through town. As we were walking,
we met one of the Sisters' investigators, one of our investigators,
and several of our potential investigators, and we had good
conversations with all of them! The Lord will place the prepared
people in our path!

C is doing so well this week! We've seen such a big change in her
since we first met her! She's giving such great answers when we ask
her questions about what she's read and learned from the scriptures!
She's having her baptismal interview today, and we'll set up her
baptismal program with her as well. We're SO SO SO excited for her!!

There was a fireside last night with Elder Hallstrom from the
Presidency of the Seventy, and it was really good! C and her mom, J,
came as well! After a few people got up to bear their testimonies, he
got up and opened a Question & Answer session with all the people in
the chapel. We talked about things like President Monson's health, the
temple in Rome, the Church in China, and, my favorite, preparing for a
mission and the rest of your life. C and J loved it, and Elder
Hallstrom even came over to shake their hands afterwards!

The final miracle from the week happened yesterday with a part-member
family of the ward. The wife isn't a member, and we've been told not
to try to teach her since she hasn't had positive experiences with
missionaries in the past. When we came to church on Sunday, we went to
sit with C and J, and she happened to be sitting on the same row as
well. We got to sit next to her throughout the testimony meeting. It
was a really good testimony meeting, and I'm sure she felt the Spirit
there. She also came to the Elder Hallstrom fireside, and it sounds
like she enjoyed it. Even though we won't be teaching her anytime
soon, we're happy to see that she's making some progress.

Thanks for reading! Hope everybody's had a great week! Enjoy the snow!!

Funnies of the Week:

We were in the library with our bike gear, and this really little kid
kept walking past us. As he would walk past us, he would poke my
helmet, giggle, and run away.

I've had 3 tires replaced this week. You should've seen the expression
on the mechanic's face as I came into the bike shop this morning with
yet another flat tire.

Since I was sick at Elder Hallstrom's fireside, Elder Hallstrom
touched elbows with me instead of shaking hands. Memorable moments
with leaders of the Church.

I love my new scarf - thank you!!!
