Week 75: A Savior is Born!

December 7, 2015

Merry Christmas from Elder McOmber and Elder Moulton!

Top of the morning from little old Aylesbury! It's been a pretty good
week, and it's just a little bit warmer than it usually is at this
time of year, so we're doing great!

We had a great zone training meeting this week as well! Both of the
trainings were really helpful!

The first one was from the sister training leaders about Christmas
TTIs - having effective gospel conversations with people about
Christmas. It really helped us to know how we could use Christmas as a
good way to share the gospel with everybody we meet! One of the things
we like to do with people we meet is share the short "A Savior Is
Born" Christmas video the Church just released. It's so good!!! If you
haven't already seen it, go to Christmas.mormon.org to watch it!

The second training we received was called "I Pledge!" It was about
working with members according to their schedule. Usually, we try to
set appointments with our investigators and try to find members who
are available to come to those appointments. This training was about
working the other way around: asking members to pledge an hour of
their time when they're available - in other words, setting an
appointment with the members - and then working with our investigators
to come to those appointments. If we aren't able to get an
investigator to the appointment, we can plan a different effective
activity to do with the member during that time. We're excited to
start doing this, and we hope that it will increase member involvement
and trust with the missionaries!

One final thing I liked from this zone training meeting were the goals
that we set. We set good, achievable goals for December, but we also
looked ahead to and set goals for January so we could start making it
a great month too. We feel confident and great about the goals that we
set!

There are a few miracles from this week that I want to share. The
first one was R, who was baptized just two weeks ago, passed the
sacrament for the first time yesterday! The other young men were
showing him where he'd be going and what he'd be doing just before
sacrament started. It was such a sweet moment when he got to pass the
sacrament to us! Bishop Fu even went with R and his family over the
weekend to get him a new suit to wear at church! We're so happy for
him!!

The other miracle I wanted to share comes from the Sister missionaries
who also work in Aylesbury. They're working with a man, M, who is
absolutely golden. They just taught him the Word of Wisdom this week,
and he committed to live it. As the Sisters were walking through town
the other day, they saw M with a bunch of friends and a cup of coffee
sitting in front of him. They were sad about that, but they kept on
walking. Later that day, M texted them and said that he saw them
walking past earlier and wanted to explain. He was with his friends at
the coffee shop, and they bought him a coffee. His friends tried to
convince him to drink it, but he told them, "I don't drink coffee." He
just left the cup on the table and never touched it. He is SOO good!!
He has such a pure desire to do what is right and to follow Jesus
Christ!

Hope everyone's excited for Christmas and enjoying the snow!

Funnies of the Week

There's a family in the ward that told us before that they didn't want
to be selfish by asking us to come over for Christmas because they
knew some other families who had children serving missions would want
us to come. Then they texted us around a week later saying that they
changed their minds and that they actually were going to be selfish
and have us over for Christmas. The members here in Aylesbury are so
great!

A friend from Norwich sent me this picture of Elder and Sister Blackham - we love them!
