Week 67: Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect...

October 13, 2015

Life doesn't always turn out the way you expected. I was pretty sure that I was going to stay here in Norwich with Elder Chu for at least one more transfer, but we just got a call last night that I'm moving to Aylesbury! I'm excited and sad at the same time! I went on exchanges to Norwich the entire time I was in Dereham, and I've been serving here in Norwich itself for 3 months, so I've gotten to know some of these people for around 9 months now! I know it's a cliché saying, but it feels like I'm leaving home all over again!

We've had a good week though! We FINALLY got an appointment set up with a potential investigator that we had ever since I first arrived in Norwich. We'll be teaching her today with a recent convert! We also had a great lesson yesterday with a less-active member who wants to come back to Church. We taught him about The Restoration, and it helped clear up a lot of misinformation and questions that he had. Elder and Sister Blackham came to teach with us and invited him to their YSA activities - they were so good and helped him sooo much! I'm so grateful I've been able to serve with them here in Norwich!

We've also had some good finding experiences this past week. Just yesterday as we were going finding, we met someone who tried to tell us at the start that she didn't want to hear about Jesus Christ. When we asked her why, she told us about a tragedy in her family and the confusion she had about why God would allow that to happen. It was amazing to see the Spirit soften her heart as we testified to her of Heavenly Father's love for all His children. We'll be calling her today to set up an appointment! MIRACLE!

I love being a missionary! I love helping people to come unto Christ and receive the joy, hope, peace, and happiness He's just waiting to give them! I love the feeling of the Spirit as I help other people, and I know the things I teach and testify of are true! I know the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that our Heavenly Father lives and loves us.

Hope everybody has a great week!

Funnies of the Week

My companion chose to sing Hymn 293 this morning for our Companion Study: "Each Life That Touches Ours for Good".

Apparently Japanese and Chinese people have ancient rivalries. Elder Chu is a little nervous for his new Japanese companion.

Sister Luan, a Chinese Sister Missionary in Norwich, painted this picture of all of us.  I love it!
(Guess who inspired the giraffe?)

Have loved my companion - Elder Chu
