Week 60: Shenanigans

August 24, 2015

你好 (How are you?)
Hope everyone's had a great week! We had another grey-t week here
in Norwich! (Get the pun?) It's been raining a lot this week,
especially these past few days. We got absolutely SOAKED yesterday
when we were walking to our potential investigator's home, and today
we got rained on while we were playing sports for our zone preparation
day. We had fun in the rain, but my companion didn't want to join in
when I started singing "There Is Sunshine in my Soul Today".

Our week has been a bit slow in terms of teaching. Most of our Chinese
investigators have been too busy with essays, dissertations, and exams
to meet up, and it sounds like it won't be until September before
they'll be free. Our English family came back from their holiday on
Sunday, so we're excited to see them this week!

We had a fun time giving service to a member's neighbor the other day.
We were with the zone leaders, one of our Chinese recent converts, and
the member who lived nearby. It was raining a bit, but we were able to
help touch up the neighbor's garden. Apparently it was the first time
our Chinese friend had ever worked on a garden, so he had loads of fun
and took lots of pictures (which are all on his camera, which is why I
didn't send them). The neighbor loved having us over and even got some
snacks for us while we worked. This was a good reminder to me of how
serving others brings happiness to everyone involved.

I've been focusing the past few weeks on strengthening my testimony. I
want to be able to tell our investigator friends that I know the
things we share are true and that this will bring them more lasting
happiness and joy than anything else in the world. I'm so grateful for
the time that I have to study the scriptures every morning so I can
strengthen my testimony, and I am so grateful for the Spirit I can
feel as I study. I love bearing my testimony to our friends, and I
hope that they'll always be able to remember how they felt when they
heard our testimonies. I love being a missionary.

Thank you again for reading! Hope everyone has a fantastic week!
见我的朋友们!(Good-bye my friends!)

Funnies of the Week

We were sitting with our Chinese recent converts in Institute when
they noticed the word "shenanigans" on the wall next to some funny
pictures of the young single adults around Norwich. They asked me how
to say it, and they liked saying it so much that they repeated it for
the rest of the evening.

I was on exchange with our zone leader, Elder Nielson, this past week.
As we were trying to find some more Chinese people to teach, we saw
this one Chinese girl on the road walking towards us, noticing and
recognizing us, trying to cross the road, and literally running back
from where she came when she couldn't cross the road. I think she's
met missionaries before, Elder.

We got a lot of our Chinese recent converts together at the Blackham's home since a lot of them are leaving soon.
