Week 56: Ni hao! (Hello there!)

It's been an amazing week here in Norwich! It's really different here in Norwich compared to Dereham - even though it's smaller than London, Norwich is a really big city compared to Dereham. There are loads of cathedrals, there's a big castle in the middle, and there are shops everywhere. Another huge difference is the people - there are SO many Chinese people here in Norwich!!! We have some Chinese recent converts in our ward, so we've been asking them to teach us some mandarin so we can talk to all the Chinese people better. We also have a Chinese sister missionary serving here, so that's really helpful! It's so cool to learn so many bits of so many different languages! My goal is to have a simple conversation with someone in mandarin before I leave the area!

On my first day in the area, we had dinner with some of our Chinese potential investigators, and they made hotpot. I sent a picture of it, and what they basically do to make it is to boil water, add some powder, and then toss in some potato slices, meat, mushrooms, lettuce, and even some tofu! It was good, but SUPER spicy! They had to water my bowl down a bunch. I was able to use the chopsticks pretty well, but I dropped my food a few times. I tried some tofu too, good stuff!

Church was great on Sunday! The Sunday School classroom was filled with investigators from the zone leaders and sisters in our area, and almost all of them spoke Chinese, so we had a fun time going around making sure everyone had the right page in their books. There are loads of great members here in Norwich too, which I'm grateful for!

There are lots of potential investigators we have that we're inviting to ward activities, and we're going to be focusing on finding new investigators this week that can be baptized before the end of the transfer, so we're excited to get started!

Hope everyone has a great, awesome, wonderful week!

Funnies of the Week:

After the baptism on Saturday, we all went our different ways, and we went with the Senior Couple in our area to a kebab shop run by a member for some dinner. When we arrived, we found Elder Call there with his family, and then a few minutes later, the zone leaders rolled up in their car. Great minds think alike, right?

My new companion from Uganda - Elder Opiyo!

We had several baptisms this week!  The font was broken in Norwich so we traveled to Dereham for the baptisms.  I got to see some of the members - I missed them!

Elder Call (on the right) is from Utah - he is my neighbor's nephew (Brother Ron Goodman)!  His father (on the left) came to pick him up from his mission.  This was his last baptism.
What a small world!

We have lots of Chinese friends now!

Chinese candy a recent convert gave us.
She gave an awesome talk too!
