Week 49: Staying in Dereham!

I'll be staying in Dereham this transfer! That means Dereham will be my first 6 month area! Elder Thornton is staying with me, which means I'll be killing him off! Not exactly looking forward to that, but we're going to make his last transfer his best!

Loads of stuff has been going on this week! It has definitely been a week of learning. I had a great, busy exchange with Elder Stevenson, one of my zone leaders who's going home tomorrow. He gave me some really good advice, so I hope I remember it all! My companion had a good talk with me this week about overthinking things and being too stressed out, so that's something I'm working towards. It hasn't been too long since I've started working on that, but I've already seen a big difference. Our new favorite phrase is one from an awesome member here in Dereham: "BE POSITIVE!" I know that this goal will help, and I'm so grateful for such an amazing, inspired companion as Elder Thornton.

We've had a few miracles happen this week as well! We lost our phone on our way to a service project, so we had to go back and try to find it. It took us a while, but we got a member to call it, and she told us (laughingly) that it was at the police station. Just after we picked it up, the husband (non-member) of the part-member family we were going to serve suddenly pulled up. When we were asking him how he found us, he told us that his wife had sent him to go pick us up, and he came to Dereham but had no idea where we were in the town. He said he took a moment to pray and ask God to help him find us, and just a few seconds later we crossed the road ahead of him!

There was a Stake Broadcast this week where Elder Holland spoke! It was super great, and it addressed some of the concerns that a less-active member of our ward is facing, so it we loved it! The only problem is that the satellite cut out the last 20 minutes of his talk, so we were left on a bit of a cliffhanger. Oh well! We're going to see him this Friday, so we're not complaining. Super excited for that!

Hope everyone's had a great week! Thanks for all your letters, love, and support!

Funnies of the Week:

When we lost our phone this week, within 24 hours the entire ward knew and were teasing us about it.

A member called me a jam sandwich when I accidentally knocked on his backdoor instead of his front door. Whoops. It looked like the front door.

Another great train pic!

A member of our ward gave us sardines in tomato sauce - so we decided to try them!
Tasted pretty weird having a fish in my mouth!

There is a fad in England for men's hair styles.  Shaved on the sides and long and spiked on the top.
If you can't imagine what it looks like - here's a hint!
