Week 47: Yehright mate?

May 25, 2015

This week my companion told me I have one of the worst american accents he's ever heard. He absolutely hates it when I say "water"! Haha another word he hates is "trash". Here in England, they say "rubbish" instead of "trash", and they say "bin" instead of "trash can". Fun stuff!

This has been another great week! It's rained a few times, but the weather seems to be getting warmer. We usually have to bring our coats around with us throughout the day because the weather changes throughout the day - it can go from rainy in the morning to hot and sunny in the afternoon, and then it might start raining again in the evening. It seems to rain most nights as well. Lots and lots of rain! It doesn't pour down like it does in Utah though, it's usually more of medium drizzle. My companion doesn't like the weather here - he says it changes the fastest out of all the areas he's served in. It's getting better though, so we're happy.

We had Zone Conference this week, and it was great! It also made me realize, a LOT of my past companions are going home soon! It turns out a lot of them are all in the same group, so they're all going home all at once in July of this year. We had a great time at the conference though, and we had loads of really good trainings, so it was lots of fun! They also showed a really good video of some of our missionaries singing "Glorious" by David Archuletta - it's on my mission president's wife's Facebook page, so feel free to check it out! (Sister Holly Jordan)

We've had to drop some of our investigators this week, which is never very fun, but we've found some good new potential investigators, which is great! I had a great exchange with my district leader this week - it's surprised me that I'm not as afraid as I was before about talking to people, and now I'm able to start up some good conversations on my own! I still have a lot to improve, but I'm so grateful for the changes I've seen in myself since I began my mission. I'm so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ that makes it possible for me to experience these changes. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to succeed, and He'll do everything He can to help us learn and grow.

Thank you for all your love, letters, and encouragement! Hope y'all have a great week!

Funnies of the Week:

There's a little boy in our ward who, whenever he's participating in a prayer, whispers "John Cena Cena" just loud enough for the person giving the prayer to hear. His mother explained to us that he loves watching wrestling and wants everyone to pray for John Cena.

People really do say "blimey".

We've learned the lingo for teens - instead of asking them, "Hello, how are you?" you ask them, "Yehright mate?"
