Week 18: I love London North!

November 3, 2014

We've had another amazing week here in London North. It's starting to get dark around 5 pm now, and the weather's starting to get just a little bit colder, but we're doing great!

We got J on date this week! He's been seeing the missionaries for anywhere between 5-9 months, and he's been on date around 4 times by now. He was on date recently, but he called to cancel just 1 or 2 weeks before the baptism. We've been teaching him over the past few weeks, and we got him back on date for the 22nd, so we're really excited for that!

We had a miracle this week when we hadn't been able to contact N for a while. We were heading back from shopping on Monday when we decided to try to stop by his flat. We usually have to throw pebbles on his window to get his attention, but we were able to get up to his flat and knock on his door this time. We were able to sit down and talk to him and resolve a concern he had, which once again probably saved our relationship with him. Also, in other really big news, N decided to get married! He really wants to be baptized, but he lives with his partner, so they decided to get married so he can be baptized! We've been trying to talk to people about what we need to do for a marriage in the UK, and N actually asked my companion to be the Best Man at his wedding! We're getting really excited for N and the progress he's making!

We've gotten a few new investigators this week! Just yesterday, we finally met with a great potential investigator we met on the second day of the transfer. She's a girl, so we referred her to the Sisters in London North, and we just learned that their first appointment went really well. We also got a new Romanian couple that want to learn English, so we're expecting them at our English Class later this week. We got a new investigator just yesterday when we were teaching one of our other new investigators on the street. As we were teaching this new investigator, E, some people stopped to listen to what we were saying. Some of them asked questions and listened to the answers we gave them. We got a new investigator, D, from that, and funny enough D began to give out all of our pass-along cards to everyone he met on the street. We got a good potential investigator from that as well, and we have an appointment with him later this week. Elder Jentzsch and I realized that this could be a good method of finding: teaching our investigators on the street so that people hear us as they pass by. Hopefully we can try that a little bit more before winter comes!

We were just crossing the street yesterday when someone stopped us and asked where our church was. We were completely caught off guard and thought he meant just any church building around, but he told us that he'd found out about our Church and wanted to come. MIRACLE!

We were survey finding earlier this week, and as we were walking down the street, I felt prompted to talk to this one particular person. We had already passed by him, and I thought that I should just let it go, but I decided to follow the prompting and talk to him. We had a great gospel conversation with him, and we got his contact information so we could teach him later! Always follow promptings!

That's all the time I have this week. Hope everyone back home is doing well and enjoying the fall colors!

Funnies of the Week

Our investigator promised us last week that he'd come to Church, but he didn't show up. When we called him later to ask him why he didn't come, he told us: "I got arrested!"

My companion wrote this on his milk bottle.  'Tis true!

I love my "Fast Sunday" tie!

We helped build a deck for a member.

Such a nice family (total strangers) found us on the streets of London and sent our families pictures!
