Week 14: Transfer time!

Guess what!! I'm being moved to London North!!!!!! My companion was telling me he was jealous, that this is where all the missionaries dream of going, so I'm pretty excited to go there! My new companion's name is Elder Yench (I think), and it sounds like he's German as well. I can't wait to get out there and meet him!

This has been such an amazing week with General Conference! I never thought about it before, but the General Conference schedule here in the UK is a bit crazy because of the time difference. We watched the Saturday morning session at 5 pm local time Saturday evening, watched Priesthood Session Sunday morning at 10 am, watched Saturday evening session at 1 pm, watched Sunday morning session at 5 pm, and I still haven't watched all the rest of the Sunday evening session. While the schedule was a little weird, I don't think I've ever had such a great time listening to General Conference! The time just seemed to fly by as we watched it, and I received many of the answers I was looking for. I'm grateful for the opportunity we have to listen to living prophets.

One highlight this week came from earlier in the week when we came to do service for one of the Bishop's neighbors. We knocked on the door, were about to come in, and then when we saw that she was alone at the door, we asked if there was a man in the house. We didn't realize she'd just had a divorce, so that was just about the worst thing we could've asked her. We tried explaining the mission rules to her, but she started crying and yelling at us to "Just leave!" Thankfully, the Bishop's wife and another sister from the ward happened to be standing out on the other side of the street, and they asked if they could come and help. They were able to sit and help calm the neighbor down as we carried the things out of the loft (attic) for her. After we were all done, she was smiling and thanked us for coming. I am so incredibly thankful for both of these wonderful sisters for being in the right place at the right time.

Another brief highlight this week: two of my friends from my BYU ward, Sister Anderson and Sister Cummings, are arriving tomorrow!! Hopefully I'll get to see them and say hi soon!

It's so much fun reading all your letters! Thanks so much for reading again this week! Hope to hear from all of you soon!

Funnies of the Week:

We know when our new Latvian investigator doesn't understand something when he pulls out his phone to try to translate what we just said back into Russian.

We accidentally made an appointment with one of our very anti-mormon former investigators this week, and at the end of the interesting appointment, he smiled and said, "Let's do this next week!"

We walked past this one woman smoking a fag (cigarette) outside a restaurant on the way back to our flat when she commented on how "smart" we looked (how nicely we were dressed). When we started talking with her and turned the conversation to the Church, she told us that she thought that "Jesus would've smoked a fag."

People wonder what's wrong with you if you tell them you don't know any of the football teams around here.

We had dinner with this one family from the ward this week, and they just had a blast teasing us all evening. Both times I've come over, the mom has tried to set me up with their 24-year-old daughter.

We were going up an escalator in this one store when the boy standing next to us looked over and told us that this was his 15th time going up and down the escalators.
