Week 12: It's FALL!

It's definitely getting colder here in England! It hasn't started raining too much, but it sounds like soon it's gonna start pouring! It's usually pretty warm and sunny around noon, but some days the sky's just one big blob of gray. The days are getting shorter too - the sun's starting to set around 7 now. It's gonna be really weird in December when the sun sets in the afternoon!

We've had a really good week this week. We had a three-way exchange on Tuesday with the Zone Leaders and District Leader (I went with the District Leader, the District Leader's companion went with one Zone Leader, and my companion stayed with the other Zone Leader). We didn't have much time that day to do much finding, but I was able to use this one idea I came up with to go finding, and it WORKED! We didn't get a new investigator from it, but it got the person's attention! We also went to see a less-active family, which was a lot of fun. They knew a lot of English, but they grew up speaking Spanish, so we still had a hard time asking them for things like pepper when we wanted to do an object lesson with them. They had a little bunny as a pet, so that was cute too.

We got a few new potential investigators this week, and one of them was pretty funny - he lives right across the street from the chapel, and the thing that got him interested was that if he became a member, he might be able to park his car in the church parking lot instead of fighting for one on the street. We haven't been able to meet with him yet, but we're hoping to see him soon.

Sorry it's another short letter, but that's all the time I have this week. I'll try to write a better letter next week! Thanks for all your letters - I love hearing from so many of you! Hope everything's going well back in the States!

Funnies of the Week:

We had lunch with a family after Church this week, and the little kids wanted to play a game of chess with me. I don't think I've ever seen such blatant cheating in my life.

When we were baking cookies for a family this week, we lost track of how much spoonfuls of vegetable oil we were putting into the mix. We were up to 3 spoonfuls when we lost count.

Someone got creative with the road names around here: Gandalf's Ride, Rivendell Vale, Gimli Watch, and Hamlet Road are just a few of the road names I've seen.

The ward that meets after we do on Sunday has an American Bishop! It was SO weird to hear an American accent from someone other than my companion!

Nick! We saw a huge hummer drive past us the other day, and it had rims with multi-colored LED lights!

English word of the week: "smashing". Used as an adjective for something that is awesome or great.

Finally got Courtney's letter!

I was looking through the Zone Leader's calendar when I noticed this....

Came back from exchanges to find this taped to our door.  Not sure who had done it (had someone tracked us down and put it on our door?) - but then found out it was my companion and one of the Zone Leaders.

My companion is an awesome cook!  We are making cookies for an amazing part-member family in our ward.   He can also cook chicken and rice, lasagne, and sausage with mashed potatoes.  I love it!
