Week 90: Time is Flying!!

March 21, 2016

What?? March 21st??? Where has the time gone?! Even though the time is going fast, we are having an amazing time here in Chelmsford! Elder Jackson has been REALLY good with establishing good relationships with the members here - he had some really good ideas with his companion in Kings Lynn that we've been applying here, and the members love it. We love serving here in Chelmsford!!

Just a few miracles from this week. Our first miracle is with a new investigator, L. We found her on Wednesday and set a return appointment for Saturday. She's Christian and wanted to learn more about what the Book of Mormon is. When we called to confirm on Friday, she said she had to cancel. We thought this was an indication of a lack of desire, so we asked her if she genuinely wanted to meet. She gave a definite "yes" & explained that she wanted to know where the Book of Mormon came from. We'd given her a copy of the Book of Mormon, so we asked her if she'd read what we gave her. When we asked her that, she said, "I've gotta go," and hung up. We thought again that that meant she hadn't read anything and didn't want to meet, but then she called us back 1 or 2 minutes later, apologizing and explaining that an emergency had just come up. She said she'd at least looked at the pictures at the beginning of the Book of Mormon and really liked the one of Jesus Christ. Because she liked those, we invited her to read 3 Nephi chapter 11, where Jesus Christ visits the people in the Americas, and she accepted! We'll be following up with her today. The miracle for us was that she has enough commitment and desire to call us back and to continue to pursue learning more about the Book of Mormon.

Another miracle this week was when we received a referral from a member in the Maldon ward. We of course were excited that we'd received a referral, but something that made me even more excited was who it came from. It turns out the member who gave the referral is one of the struggling members I visited at the very start of my mission. This morning, we ran into this member as we were coming into the library, and it was amazing to me to see how much she had changed since the first time I met her almost two years ago. She was also telling me about the change she'd seen in her two boys, that when she first joined the Church they would run away from Primary, but now they run into Primary. I am so grateful for that experience of meeting her and seeing how much the gospel of Jesus Christ has changed and blessed her and her family. I am so grateful for this opportunity I have of being a missionary so I can help others to come unto Christ and receive the blessings He has in store for them.

Well, that's everything for this week! Hope everybody's doing well at home! Enjoy the snow!!

Funnies of the Week:

Our zone leaders are on a diet, but when we had an exchange with them this week, they found a big bag of old muffins in their car trunk. Later on, they were rebuking us for not stopping them from eating the muffins.

On Friday, we stopped a man who said he'd read just about every religious book in the world, including the Book of Mormon. When we asked him what he thought about it, he told us: "One plus one equals two. One minus one equals two. One, two, three, four, five. Five fingers on your hand. Cut an apple in half and you have a 5-point star, which is good in some people's minds but bad in other people's minds." Then he walked away.

A family in Dereham posted this to my Facebook page -
it made my whole day!!
