Week 80: Week of Miracles!

January 11, 2016

This has been such an AMAZING week!! My new companion, Elder Masuku,
has been really good! It's cool to see how much each of us has grown
since we met in the MTC. We're going to make this a transfer of
miracles!!

We've had loads of miracles this week! The first miracle of the week
was finally meeting some of the less-active members of the ward and
having some good appointments with them. We've been slowly getting to
know a less-active member, A, for the past two transfers, and we were
finally able to teach him this past week! We shared President Monson's
talk "Make Time for the Savior" from the Ensign, and he loved it!
We're excited to see him again and help him make some good resolutions
for 2016! We were also able to share this talk with a younger
less-active member, D, and she really enjoyed it too! After was shared
the talk with her, she told us that her mother wanted to be baptized.
WHAT?!! MIRACLE!! We're so excited to see them this week!!!

Our next miracle happened on Friday in the middle of our Weekly
Planning. The Sisters in Aylesbury asked if we could meet them in town
center so we could lend them the chapel key for the day. As we were
walking there, someone called out "Elders!" Neither of us recognized
him, but it turns out that he's a former investigator who stopped
meeting with the missionaries a while back because he wasn't sure
about baptism. He told us that he'd been thinking about it recently
though, and that he wanted to start learning about it again and to get
baptized! I know that the Lord's promise is real - when we're doing
everything we can and following the Spirit, He will place prepared
people in our path or He will place us in their path.

We also had an AMAZING lesson with C and her mother, J, this week.
We'd just gone to our zone training meeting that morning, and the
sister training leaders had given a great training about how important
How To Begin Teaching (HTBT) is. This is basically when we talk with
our investigators to understand their religious background, to
establish expectations, and to help them see where we see these visits
will go. On the train ride back from that meeting, we decided that we
needed to change our lesson plan for C and J. We were a little nervous
about changing the lesson plan so last-minute, but it turned out so
well! Both C and J accepted a baptismal date for February 13! MIRACLE!

The final miracle of the week: OUR HEATER WORKS!!! The whole time
Elder Moulton was here and I've been here, this heater in our flat
hasn't worked. Just yesterday we were changing some of the settings,
and suddenly it started working again! MIRACLE!!!

Thanks for reading, hope everybody's having a great time back home!

Funnies of the Week

Suddenly, now that Elder Masuku is my companion, almost EVERYONE seems
to be from some part of Africa.

I was telling Elder Masuku the name of one of our less-active African
members, and he started laughing. Apparently, the last name of that
less-active translates to "mucus".

When we met one of the Primary children at church this week, he asked
us, "Where's the normal missionary?" Elder Moulton will be missed.

Goodbye Elder Moulton!

Zone training meeting! We have people from all over the world - it's so cool to hear all the different languages! There are people from Spain, Portugal, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Norway, Finland, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, Pacific Islands, and, of course, Utah!

Hello Elder Masuku!
