Week 39: When it rains - it pours!

The Lord has poured out multiple things on us this week! First off, we've had some of the heaviest rain and wind this week that I've experienced since entering the UK! We've found blown-over road signs and fences as we've gone around this week - crazy how strong the wind can be sometimes! Then yesterday, the rain and hail took turns drenching the town. It was almost like Utah - it would pour for a few minutes, and then it would be nice and sunny, and then it would begin hailing. Crazy weather!

My favorite pouring this week though has been miracles and blessings! For example, WE'VE FOUND MORE FAMILIES. We're still building our teaching pool right now, so we're focusing a lot on finding new investigators, especially families. We stopped a Portuguese man on his way back from work, and after a great gospel conversation, he started telling us his address before we even asked for it! He told us we can come and teach him and his family!! And then we tracted into a Brazilian man and his family, and when we asked him if we could share more, he said yes!! I love being a missionary!

I'm also really grateful for my new companion. He has already taught me so much, and he's helping me learn how I can have a vision for my area, how I can have more effective goals, and how I can have more fun with missionary work. This is going to be a great transfer!

Maybe you've all already heard of it, but the Church has also created a new Easter Initiative, just like the "Because of Him" and "He Is the Gift" videos. This one is called the "Because He Lives" video - you can find it at helives.mormon.org. It's SO good - watch it if you haven't already! We're super excited to begin using it with our finding and teaching, and we know that lots of good things will come because of it!

Mission President Interviews are next week, so we're really excited for that! It'll be really good to find out what I can do to become a better, happier, more effective missionary. Sister Jordan, the President's wife, also usually makes us American treats whenever we come for Interviews, so that'll be great.

Thanks for reading! Hope the weather's starting to get nice, warm, and sunny back in the States!

Funnies of the Week:

That moment when the wind is blowing the rain hard enough that it's better to hold the umbrella in front of you than above you.

  1. I enjoy sharing your mission with you through these posts. So proud of the work you are doing for the Lord and the people of the UK. Keep it up. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I know you were in Essex earlier in your mission. If you get back, visit Braintree for me. You may recall that I told you my family came from Braintree in 1638. They had a house just off the market square, not far from the Nags Head Hotel. Not sure, but I heard the hotel might still be there. I'd love to hear about Braintree.
