Week 6 Letter

(Written on 8/11/14 )

Gooooood morning! It's about 3 pm here in England, but I think it's somewhere around 8 am back in Utah.

I can't believe I've already been in the field for almost 4 weeks now! This week feels like it's been crammed full of activity, but at the same time it feels like it's just flown by!

Interviews with the Mission President were this week, and it was a HUGE help. This week has gone much better because of it. President and Sister Jordan are simply amazing, and I hope that someday I can be like them.

I had my first Bible (kinda) bash this week: I was on exchange with another Elder in our district when we heard someone shouting behind us in Town Center. We turned around to see a young, single father coming towards us. For the next 15 or so minutes, he just went into how there's no archaeological evidence for the Book of Mormon or the ancient American civilization it talks about and how there's no proof in the DNA or something like that. We just had to silently sit there as he went off on us. The one good thing that came out of it was that people paused to see what he was shouting about - any publicity's good publicity.

One of my favorite parts this week was during that same exchange - there was this one potential investigator we'd found a few weeks before who said that his mom was a member and that he'd already talked to plenty of missionaries about the gospel, but that he'd try again. Even though he said he hadn't gotten an answer yet, he met with us again. When we saw him, he committed to read the introduction of the Book of Mormon, and he told us that he'd probably read even more than that. Ah! Miracle!!!

Love all of you and can't wait to hear from you!

Elder McOmber
